So. . . does “Pine Creek Ridge” actually exist?
It indeed does. Pine Creek Ridge is a real place viewable on any global online map. Situated on 700 heavily wooded acres on the western edge of Brighton, Michigan, it is a residential development consisting of sixteen named streets connecting three contiguous communities.
On the north side, Lake Villas at Pine Creek consists of 100 attached and detached condominiums, separately managed as the Waterside, Parkside and Brookside developments. On the south side, Pine Creek Bluffs consists of ninety “site condo” homesites. The remainder of Pine Creek Ridge is a community of 254 single family homesites.
All residents have access to Brighton Lake, which borders the property on the east; and a smaller body of water, Lime Lake, which borders it on the west. Due to designated conservation areas on the property, white-tailed deer, sandhill cranes, coyotes, rabbits and a variety of other wildlife roam freely and are often observed in back yards.
And although two streams – Ore Creek and Lime Lake Creek – meander through the property, Pine Creek Ridge, curiously, does not actually contain a stream named “Pine Creek.”
Go figure.

About the Writing of Tales of Pine Creek Ridge
This book originated with several stories I penned for the now defunct Pine Creek Living magazine over the years 2014-2018. Three were published prior to the magazine being discontinued and replaced by another publication, Neighbors of Greater Brighton, having a broader readership and different focus. Two have not been previously published.
The idea to have me as a content contributor was conceived by the first Pine Creek Living editor, who thought including the work of a local writer would help garner readership. He suggested in our initial meeting that a series of twelve monthly installments of one overarching story would work well in keeping readers engaged.
With the understanding that my preferred genre was science fiction, the editor asked only that I try to incorporate local references where possible, particularly those associated with Pine Creek Ridge. I gladly obliged, but freely confess I strayed from that genre in these writings.
Hopefully, you will find the collection nonetheless enjoyable.
